AT&T’s A List No Longer Available for New Customers

And interesting development: AT&T has ended their A-list September 1st, poof!

For those of you who are not Bill Police clients, the A-list was an AT&T program which allowed for EACH PHONE to have their top 10 numbers called to be added into a program which rated these calls as mobile–to-mobile calls, thereby reducing peak minutes. Because your voice charges are based off peak minutes in your pool, if you reduce your pool you will reduce the access fee you pay. Translation: Mobile-to-mobile minutes reduce your bill.

Enhancements to AT&T Business Pooled Nation Plans

This is a new rate plan available from AT&T to obtain Mobile to ANY Mobile minutes via the unlimited Messaging Plan.

This plan was available previously for certain rate plans; however, now it is available to customers with generally available Business Pooled plans. Sprint Users Beware: Fraudulent Phishing Scam Alert

Here’s the latest on the phishing scam where fraudsters are utilizing an auto-dialer mechanism and calling phone numbers (both customers & non-customers) with an automated message stating something to the effect of:

This is Sprint PCS and your account has been flagged with fraud and in order to resolve the fraud, you will need to enter your account PIN & zip code at the prompts in order to begin resolving the fraud incident.

Wireless Carriers Aid Japan Relief Effort

Last week’s devastating earthquake and tsunami prompted an untold number of long-distance calls and text messages from people reaching out to family and friends in Japan. Carriers have subsequently announced they will help by offering free calls and text messages from the U.S. to Japan. Good for the carriers and thanks goes out for the effort.

Verizon is Throttling Data Users

So what Verizon was calling “unlimited lightning fast 4G” is not exactly so unlimited anymore. The wireless carrier is now throttling the top 5% of their data subscribers based on usage.

That is, any Verizon smart-phone user who uses an “extraordinary amount of data” will see a slowdown in their data-transfer speeds for the remainder of the month and the next billing cycle”. Yikes. And we thought Verizon was going to compete with “those other carriers” who offer limited data plans.

To add fuel to the fire, Verizon did not announce this to their millions of subscribers via press release, email or text message. Instead, the news ended up being leaked by a blogger who stumbled across a well-hidden PDF disclaimer on Verizon’s website.
