Well, PC Magazine has recently released their results on data speeds and found that Verizon is the fastest network in the US. Here are the results:
PC Magazine stated that they, “…gathered mobile data from 21 cities across the country and upon pooling the data, found Verizon taking the #1 spot for fastest mobile network. This no doubt has to do with their blazing fast 4G LTE network they began rolling out earlier this year.”
There is only one problem with this data: our customers do not agree.
We have Fortune 500 and 1000 customers who have run their own speed tests and they have found that AT&T is actually faster than Verizon. Here is some of their data:
Good for PC Magazine, who also stated, “While this may no doubt comes as a surprise to anyone (LTE is often faster than a lot of home internet connections), it was interesting to see AT&T taking the top spot for over “rural coverage” offering fast 3G speeds for those in little towns and cities throughout the U.S.”
This might have been the cause for some of this differential, but we are consistently hearing from our customers that AT&T’s speed is actually surpassing that of Verizon, even their LTE. This could be due to Verizon throttling; however, these customers have not been throttled on their devices (yet!).
So, when you are making your decision regarding data devices and carrier decisions, do not forget to make a test drive of both devices side by side with a speed test comparison. It might help you from getting throttled.
