Now in its 23rd year (read more about this milestone), texting has emerged as a powerful communications tool. According to mobilesquared, about 90% of all text messages are read within 3 minutes. And an additional 1% of recipients are reached within 15 minutes. Pew Research tells us that text messaging is the most commonly used smart phone feature and is the tool used most frequently. eMarketer takes this finding a step further. It reports that checking text messages ranked as the #1 thing survey respondents did on their mobile devices in the morning.
Could this be the way to reach employees? Perhaps, yes. At least as one of the communication tools implemented. Pew Research indicates that 92% of adults in the United States have cell phones and of this group a significant number, 90%, carry their phones with them. After examining this further, the probability of connecting with these folks is pretty good – considering a total of 76% say they rarely or never turn off their phones.
