Recently, AT&T announced that it is changing its Data Global Bolt-on Plans. In this week’s AT&T Newsletter they specified the changes to add some new plans and retire other plans. Below is the excerpt from their article.
What AT&T’s New International Plan Changes Mean to You:
- The new add-on features offers a higher allowance with less cost
- With the higher allowance and less cost, users will most likely avoid exceeding the allowance which means we reduce international roaming kb charges
- **Note, there still may be occasions when a 50MB add-on is applied to a user and they exceed that allowance. You should, however, receive notification from ATT and can then implement a change
- For example, the old 20MB was 24.99 – the new 50MB is now 24.99. The old 50MB was 59.99 – that has now been replaced with a 125MB at 49.99.
Two things to note
- The add-on features do not cover as many countries as some other existing plans. This means you can still get international roaming kb charges with the add-on feature (depending on where you are traveling). With the Unlimited International Plan, the user will not incur any international roaming kb charges.
- These new plans apply to ALL devices.
Keep in mind, should anyone choose to use the add-on features, only the domestic data plan is entitled to an access fee discount and recurring credit (the add-on features are not eligible to either) per your carrier agreement.
Verizon is also trying to do away with the international data plan and implement the domestic plan with the international add-on. See their new plans below.
There are lots of implications for these plans and you need to make sure they fit your needs. To take advantage of these plans, make sure you have taken all issues into consideration or you may be leaving additional money on the table. Especially for those Enterprises who have customized carrier agreements, these new plans need some analysis to determine fit in each particular case. Let us know if we can help you.
