Okay users, so here’s the deal: AT&T Mobile to Any Mobile means that if you have the feature, you can call from your AT&T phone to ANY other MOBILE phone and it will pull from your MTM bucket (a change from pulling from your peak bucket of minutes). This is a good thing because it can reduce your peak minutes thereby allowing you to reduce your plan minutes thereby reducing your cost.
Here’s the details:
- AT&T is rolling out a new mobile to mobile FEATURE on SOME of their individual and family plans.
- The specific plans are outlined on AT&T’s website.
- You can only receive the mobile to any mobile feature if you are on those plans AND…
- If you add the unlimited messaging plan to your applicable plan. That means another $20/month on the individual plans and another $30 per month on the family share plans.
- Thus, if you are an individual (and on the applicable plan) AND if you already have the $20 unlimited messaging plan, this works for you, but you need to get the feature added to your plans.
- And if you are on an applicable family plans AND if you already have the $30 unlimited messaging plan, this also works for you, but you also have to get the feature added to your plans.
- Finally, if you fall into one of the 2 categories above and do not yet have the unlimited messaging plan, figure out if you can reduce your minute plan by at least $20 or $30 by the decrease in minutes that will be pulled from your plan (unlikely) to determine if it makes sense to move to this Mobile to Any mobile features.
You can find out more details here.
Interestingly, the cynic in us always comes out as also in this Washington Post article which purports that AT&T is trying to counter some other announcements (hmm!) by other carriers targeted for today.
This does differ significantly from Sprints Mobile to Any Mobile plan by the following: Sprint’s plan gives you unlimited domestic calls from the Sprint network to and from ANY U.S. mobile phone regardless of carrier. Any network, any time.
- Sprint plans offer mobile to any mobile plans on specific applicable rate plans; however, in sprint (or should we say Nextel?) style, they do apply to business users.
- Only available with select Sprint Plans and while on the Nationwide Sprint or Nextel National Networks (excludes calls to voicemail, 411, and other indirect methods).
- It does not require an additional unlimited messaging plan.
It does pool with existing business pooled plans and minutes can also be pooled within this family of plans. You can see all the details on Sprint’s website (enter your zipcode to view).
