Here’s the latest on the phishing scam where fraudsters are utilizing an auto-dialer mechanism and calling phone numbers (both customers & non-customers) with an automated message stating something to the effect of:
This is Sprint PCS and your account has been flagged with fraud and in order to resolve the fraud, you will need to enter your account PIN & zip code at the prompts in order to begin resolving the fraud incident.
The number appearing on the customer’s caller ID is 800-000-0611.
The purpose of this phishing scam is for the fraudsters to acquire the PINs in order to commit fraud.
Sprint is not initiating these calls, nor would we CALL a customer and request their PIN. The PIN is only needed when the customer calls into Sprint for account verification.
